Wanted: a 17 yo obsessive-compulsive Asian girl with a bizarre name

Edgar Wright is directing a movie based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim. That’s sure gonna be cool. The news as of yeaterday is that Michael Cera is in final negotiations to play the role of Scott. He’s a nice actor and I loved the two films he starred in (that I know of) – Superbad and Juno. But in both he shown himself as a nerdy, low self-esteemed good boy who eventually wins the affections of a beautiful girl. Sure, Scott Pilgrim is a geek, but he’s also energetic wannabe rockstar, not a role Cera fits with his resome. I hope that if he will sign for the film, that I’ll be proved to be mistaken.

I actually think that a actor who can play a perfect Scott Pilgrim is Cera’s Superbad partner Jonah Hill (minus a couple of pounds and a new haircut). Cera can play Scott’s gay roommate and bedmate (in a non-sexual way) Wallace or Sex Bob-omb’s lead singer Stephen’s roommate, Neil.

In any case I’m waiting and will judge the movie only after its release.

And by the way, read Scott Pilgrim. There are 4 books so far, and I would tell you to read them all if I was doing it myself (only read the first two so far). But read the first and the second ones. They’re gorgeous.
